Learning the trade

Learning the trade

There are a couple of new faces here at Roberts but they've settled in very quickly!  Owain Llyr James, 17, from Deiniolen and Daniel Sion Hughes, 19, from Caernarfon, are both studying Mechanical Engineering at Coleg Menai, and have chosen Roberts to undertake their apprenticeship period.

Owain is a keen sportsman and a member of the Welsh Triathlon team and development squad, which is the pathway for talented young athletes to progress into the Commonwealth and Olympic games arena. His dedication is such that he trains twice daily, getting up at 5a.m. each day to train at the local swimming pool for 2 hours before coming to work, he attends additional swimming sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays, running on Monday, Tuesday and Saturdays and goes on long bike rides on Sundays, it seems never a day off. Other enjoyments include climbing, kayaking and mountain walking.

Daniel enjoys keeping fit and attends a local gym weekly. He is regularly walking in the local mountains and enjoys biking on weekends. As a team player, he enjoys playing football and has been awarded a Community Sports Leaders award, and regularly gives local primary school children sports lessons in football. He enjoys a busy social life with his friends and enjoys reading. When the opportunity arises he loves travelling. He has recently enjoyed a holiday with his parents in Morocco which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Owain says his favourite food is Pizza, whilst Daniel can't think of anything better than his mum's Sunday beef roast!

We're really pleased to have Owain and Daniel here and look forward to following their careers and sporting achievements.
